The official Australian Biathlon Association website

Biathlon is the only sport that combines the two very diverse disciplines of cross-country skate skiing and small-bore target shooting. Predominantly a winter sport it is fun, challenging and exciting or "Cool, Fast, Extreme and Accurate", as we like to define it. Competition events are held during the Australian winter snow season and and training camps during the off-season in the summer and autumn months.

All Championships are held exclusively at the Whiskey Flat Range near Mt Hotham and is the only Biathlon range in Australia. Whiskey Flat Range is located 3km East of Mt Hotham village on the road to Dinner Plain. See the Race Calendar page for further details of all published events.

The Australian Biathlon Association is a not-for-profit organisation, with the objective of fostering the sport of biathlon within the wider community for the enjoyment, challenge and achievement of participants

This morning the second in the current summer laser biathlon series was held at METEC in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, and it was another success.
Biathletes aged from 11 to 50s took part in a Mass Start, Super Sprint Relay and Individual Time Trial, with even more athletes taking part in this second event compared with the February races. In total, there were nearly forty people rollerskiing, Skiking, scootering, running, officiating/cheering on.

The third event in this First series is on Sunday 30 March, with a Second series planned for May to June. A great way to warm up for the winter!

IBU Youth/Junior World Champs – Damon Morton stars

Of the twenty-four Australians participating in biathlon events in the 2013/14 Northern Hemisphere season, the highest-placed athlete to date is Damon Morton.
